New centre for rare hearing disorders at the UMG

From 25 November 2024, the Centre for Rare Hearing Disorders will form a further focus of the Centre for Rare Diseases Göttingen (ZSEG) at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG). In the new centre, various UMG institutions will work together on an interdisciplinary basis in the fields of diagnostics, research and treatment of rare hearing disorders. The aim is to establish new treatment and research infrastructures for hearing disorders within the UMG and to improve the care of affected patients.

“We are delighted to be able to expand the ZSEG with this new specialist centre. The close cooperation with physicians and scientists from other clinics is an ideal prerequisite for optimal patient care based on the latest scientific findings,” says Prof. Dr. Bernd Wollnik, member of the centre’s management, director of the Institute of Human Genetics at the UMG, MBExC member and member of the board of the ZSEG.
