The University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) is constructing a new research building for the Institute for Auditory Neuroscience (IAN). By the end of 2028, laboratories, offices, and spaces for scientific exchange will be completed across more than 1,800 square meters. In the new building, researchers will collaborate with the research groups at the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Optogenetic Therapies (EKFZ-OT) to develop new approaches to restoring hearing—ranging from gene therapy methods to optogenetic cochlear implants. The state of Lower Saxony has allocated approximately 35.5 million euros for the construction.
