New special exhibition at the Forum Wissen opens on 18 April 2024
How does a “patch” for the heart work? Can we hear with light? And how can insights from basic research be used to help diagnose and treat diseases? The “Heart & Brain – understanding together” exhibition examines these and related questions between these two vital organs.
As our society ages, heart and brain diseases are becoming increasingly common, presenting new challenges for medical research. In many cases there is a close connection between cardiovascular and neurological diseases.
The aim of the Cluster of Excellence „Multiscale Bioimaging: From Molecular Machines to Networks of Excitable Cells” (MBExC) at the University of Göttingen and the University Medical Center Göttingen is to understand these connections.
Thanks to state-of-the art imaging technologies, MBExC scientists are able to study the heart and the brain at all levels, from the molecule to the organ, and thereby learn more about their structure and function.
Fascinating microscopic images, tactile models, interactive media stations, and close-up insights bring the interdisciplinary research of the Cluster alive.
