Shadows and glimpses of light: structure and function of the interstitial space in the brain
MBExC member Prof. Dr. Urs Valentin Nägerl has held the University Professorship of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) since September 1, 2024 and heads the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the UMG. He succeeds Prof. Dr. Christoph Viebahn, who retired in 2023.
In his inaugural lecture, he will speak on the topic of “Shadows and glimpses of light: structure and function of the intercellular space in the brain”. The audience will gain an insight into the current state of knowledge of this still largely unexplored area of the brain as well as an outlook on the planned projects for its further investigation – one of the great challenges of modern brain research. The inaugural lecture is open to the public and will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 3:00 pm in the lecture hall of the Center for Anatomy, Kreuzbergring 36, 37075 Göttingen. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Brück, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Spokesman of the Board of Directors of the UMG, will give a welcoming speech. Prof. Dr. Alexander Flügel, Director of the Institute of Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis Research at the UMG, will then give an introduction to Prof. Nägerl’s scientific achievements.
