Exploring Heart and Brain together

In the presence of Björn Thümler, Minister of Science and Education of Lower Saxony, the topping out ceremony of the new research building Heart and Brain Center Göttingen (HBCG) took place on Monday, 31st May. After 220 days of work, the outer shell of the building was finished. The construction costs of 38 million Euros are covered by the State of Lower Saxony and the Federal Government. The building is supposed to be ready for occupancy in autumn 2022. It will offer a joint research infrastructure for cardiovascular medicine and neuroscience, two of the main research areas of the University Medical Center Göttingen as well as major topics of MBExC. Heads of the HBCG will be MBExC-members Mathias Bähr and Gerd Hasenfuß.
